Seven Steps to Success... Take One Step Closer Toward Your
Dreams... How to Realize Your Vision of Success... and More.
** Seven Steps to Success
By Adrian Newman, Founder of e-Wealth Daily
The road to success can be hard to traverse, but that doesn't
mean it's impossible to do. With the help of seven highly
effective habits, which I want to share with you here, you can
make it in the world of business. It's possible to achieve your
business goals with the help of these seven skills.
So let's look at the seven highly important habits, skills,
qualities, and traits that every entrepreneur must embrace and
master in order to reap the benefits of business success. The
absence or weakness of any of these qualities could directly
affect the performance of your business venture. You see, they
are all interconnected to a single force that I call your "Entrepreneurial Pipeline" — one leak and you will lose the
momentum and energy to take the next step forward in your
venture.
- Plan Ahead: This phrase will appear over and over again.
You see and hear about it in books, on billboards, on the radio — everywhere. It's easy to say, but not so easy
to do.
Planning requires that you to ask specific questions now, which you will need the answers to later on down the road. Revisit your business plan and every section in it. Why did you write what you did? Did you mean it? Have you acted upon any of the initiatives you've included in it? Have you executed any of the actions or plans you indicated?
Regardless of what kind of business you run, planning ahead gives you the cushioning you may likely need in case
something backfires on you down the road. Yes, it takes a lot of effort to plan for the future, but if you can master this quality early on in business, you will gain an indisputable edge over your competition. Plus, you will increase the odds of your business's survival.
- Organize, Don't Dictate: Business is a lot like a military
campaign. Your mission: to make plenty of money so you can survive until the next day, and to get stronger and wiser in your specific line of duty. You don't want to waste your time dictating. This attitude will help you stay organized and focused on your goals so that you can be successful in the marketplace.
Nevertheless, being organized means taking all the ingredients in your business plan and adequately preparing to put them into action. You have to be serious about everything that you originally planned to do in order to make your business succeed. In other words, you must dot every I, cross every T, and make sure that no detail is left out of the equation.
- Train the Right People: These are the individuals who will help your business succeed, such as your suppliers and
employees. Only hire the best candidates for the job and never settle for less. Do business with the best in your field when it comes to suppliers. If you are not happy with the services of a supplier or feel that one of your staff needs an attitude adjustment because clients are complaining, then take action now. The people who work with and for you represent your business and its reputation in the marketplace.
- Delegate Responsibility: This is perhaps one of the more challenging habits to embrace. Entrepreneurs believe that they have to do everything when the business is young because no one else can do it better or faster than they can. But as a business grows, so will the workload. Now is the time to delegate. By not doing so, an imbalance will occur in the company's infrastructure, thus leading to a weakened foundation. It takes a true leader and business visionary to delegate authority, so do it!
- Supervise, Don't Control: Once you've delegated
responsibilities and tasks to your employees, you must stay on top of things by ensuring that their performance is meeting your expectations. You may think that supervising requires the same amount of time and effort as it would if you had done the task yourself. It actually requires more — but only at the beginning. Whomever you delegated to a specific task will eventually get it done at the level of performance you demand. Think 'short-term pain for long-term gain.'
- Setting and Achieving Goals: Every business has to meet certain standards, deadlines, output demands, etc. This is what allows a company to make money and grow. If you have a product that needs to be delivered to a customer, then you have to ensure that it gets there by or before the deadline. By achieving this, you'll get paid and your customer will more than likely do business with you again. It can take months or years to get this balance of setting and achieving goals down pat. Businesses that succeed in finding this balance always surpass the growth stage of their operation with flying colors. Don't give up.
- Maintain a Winning Attitude: While this might be the most difficult habit in the list to maintain, it is the most important one because it will help you get past any hurdles that you will inevitably face. Do you want to succeed in the business world? Do you feel like a winner? Do you feel that you have what it takes to succeed? Do you think that you can outperform your competition, conquer your challenges, and pick yourself up when you fall? Ask yourself these questions before you decide to start a business. If you answer with a resounding "yes," then
you have what it takes to maintain a winning attitude that will help you grow your business.
** Take One Step Closer Toward Your Dreams
By Doug D'Anna, the "Hundred-Million-Dollar Man"
I have perfected an easy exercise that can help you remove the
barriers to your success and overcome those feelings of fear,
boredom, or dissatisfaction that keep you from moving
forward.
As I have discovered, procrastination is actually rooted in the
fear of not achieving success. Overcoming procrastination and
becoming more decisive in your thoughts and actions will not
only boost your confidence, but it will also bring you even
closer to achieving your goals.
Time and time again, psychological studies have shown us that
there is a direct correlation between focus and flow to success.
It has been scientifically proven that when you understand
exactly what needs to be done — and you have consciously
acknowledged the payoffs of achieving your goals sooner
rather than later — you will be able to focus your complete
attention on living your life well.
Another essential concept in living a life free of procrastination
is letting go of your reservations. Is someone watching you jog
around the block for the first time? Don't assume that they are
thinking negative thoughts about you. In fact, when you are
making a positive change in your life, it shows. If you exude
confidence about what you are doing, others will pick up on it
and respond positively in kind.
My next-door neighbor recently told me that seeing me running
every morning has inspired him to start exercising again. He
hasn't noticed that my form isn't perfect or that my shoes are
wearing out, and he hasn't noticed that I am passed on a daily
basis by about a half-dozen other faster runners. He admires
my passion for my running and that I get up and go whether it's
raining outside or it's a beautiful, sunny day. My get-up-and-go
attitude is what inspires him, not my technique or how many
miles I run.
On the other hand, for almost a decade, another one of my
friends has said that he is going to start running. He has
listened to me talk about the benefits of my morning run and he
keeps saying that he wants to do the same thing in his life.
However, he still hasn't even put on his running shoes, let alone
started jogging.
To him — and to you — I offer the following guidance. If you
make a commitment to these strategies today — I mean a real
concerted effort — then you'll never let your procrastination or
fears stand in the way of your success ever again.
Here are five ways to stop putting off your success:
- Set your own performance goals. At the same time,
remember that change takes time. If you are undertaking
anything for the first time, go easy on yourself and learn to
reset the parameters for success every time you try. Like a
scientist, you have to keep experimenting, tallying your results, and trying! Establish a new set of goals and rules with each attempt. If you set your sights too high, you may procrastinate on your long-term tasks, so as to pursue more immediate payoffs.
- Reward yourself. Just like my son embraced the task of
getting the grades that would get him into the school he
wanted, you, too, must reward your hard work and your
commitment to your goals. Everything you do must be done for your own sake, first and foremost.
- Stop being afraid: get out there and make the rest of your life something spectacular. Start living the life of your dreams today. Don't put off your own happiness for another minute!
- Stop thinking that your future is out of your control. When working to achieve your goals, sometimes the unexpected will happen. As a person who approaches challenges with a passionate and scientific approach, however, your belief in yourself will give you a strong foundation in successful problem solving.
- Don't let the negative attitudes of society hold you back. A friend of mine, Kevin, who is an MD, rejected the thoughts of others who thought that his dream of becoming a doctor was too big. If you live your life based on other people's expectations, you'll never get what you want.
Individually, these ideas will get you moving in the right
direction. Together, they will keep you headed squarely on the
path toward a new life that is fulfilling, challenging, and
custom-made for you.
** How to Realize Your Vision of Success
By Michael Newman, the "Money Finder"
When it comes to truly making an effort and pursuing your goals, you have to have a clear picture of what you want to
achieve. That's because I believe if you can picture yourself
where you want to be, you're more likely to get there.
Take a minute to picture your ideal image of success. Maybe
you're lounging on a leather sofa in your own mansion. Or
maybe you're sailing off the coast of France on your new yacht.
Now picture what you look like once you've achieved success.
What do you look like? Are you energized and looking your
best?
On your path to success, it's important to remember that
achieving your goals will benefit more if you're able to fully
enjoy them. To help you enjoy the fruits of your labor, here are
five healthy habits that could help you maintain the energy you
need for success:
- Get enough sleep: Adults are supposed to get around seven to eight hours of rest every night. This much sleep gives your body a chance to recuperate your energy and, more importantly, helps you to stick to your goals. If you are sleeping the same amount each night, you're also budgeting your time consistently, too. By maintaining a constant sleep pattern, you'll help your body achieve a rhythm giving you the energy to never miss those moneymaking opportunities.
- Eat breakfast: When you're rushing to make your dreams a reality, you're likely to skip breakfast most often just to make it out the door a few minutes early. But the minutes you gain in your rush are minutes you'll lose later in the day as you become tired and sluggish. Breakfast is
also a great time to plan out your day and budget your |time while you sit back and get a relaxing start with a
good meal.
- Keep yourself informed: While enjoying my breakfast, I
read the morning paper or listen to the news on the radio. You don't need to be an expert on world events, but by taking a few minutes to learn about the world around you each day, you are keeping your mind sharp. And a sharp mind is more likely to find the key to success.
- Take a break: Whether you're self-employed, retired, or in between jobs, you should be scheduling yourself time to just sit back and take a break. You may need only five or 10 minutes, but every chance you get to refresh will help you prepare for unseen challenges that can arise.
- Keep your word: No matter how big or how small your
promise may be, always keep your word. And this isn't just for the business world; the more you teach yourself to always follow through with your commitments, the more success you will find. And if you are always keeping your word, you're never making excuses for failure.
Each of these habits may take a little time to put into practice,
but the positive effects they could have on reaching your goal
for success are worth the effort.
